Having trouble with seeding or overseeding? Tips from Jonathan Green.
Here are the top reasons why your grass seed may not be growing.
TEMPERATURE: Soil temperature must be at least 50 degrees for grass seed to germinate. This usually happens when air temperatures are above 60 degrees for multiple days in a row.
SUNLIGHT: All plants need some sun to grow. Grass needs at least 3-4 hours of sunlight per day to grow lush and healthy.
WATER: Too much or too little water can hinder seed germination. Water 1-2 times per day for 5-10 minutes for the first few weeks after seeding.
SOIL pH: Grass struggles to grow in soil that is too acidic or too alkaline. Test your soil and then adjust the pH with soil food.
