What's In!

Flame Thrower Coneflower

Just arrived... some of our favorites.

Look for the tables outside that are filled with coneflowers in a rainbow of colors. Just to name a few:

Echinacea 'Flame Thrower' (pictured): Wide petals of deep orange/red tint to a deeper red at the base of the flame-red cone.  This hummingbird favorite is a fantastic color for naturalized gardens, traditional beds, borders or containers. It tolerates drought, too.

Echinacea 'Maui Sunshine': Large, bright yellow flowers are sweetly scented and flower abundantly. Flowers mature to a soft yellow. This vigorous plant is well-branched with strong, upright stems. Showy, orange cones with green backgrounds (great for cutting and drying).

Echinacea Cone-Fections 'Butterfly Kisses': 'Butterfly Kisses’ is a compact coneflower that is perfect for containers, butterfly gardens and garden beds. Flowers emerge with lime-green centers that evolve into pink & fluffy pincushions. It blooms throughout the summer and it's also deer-resistant.

Echinacea 'Tomato Soup': This coneflower brings a bright pop of red to perennial gardens. The fragrant flowers are 5" to 6" wide and attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. It matures into dense clumps with abundant blooms that are perfect for cutting. The seed heads provide food for goldfinches and also offer good deer resistance.

Echinacea 'Butterfly Orange Skipper': Named after the popular Orange Skipper butterfly, this new selection has a deep, neon-tangerine color. A bright and sunny addition to any garden, this compact, sturdy, well branched plant is good as a border plant, great in containers or patio plantings. It can grow to full size in one growing season in the ground and in even less time in a container. An amazing coneflower!

Echinacea Big Sky 'Solar Flare': The flowers are large, single and fragrant with petals in magenta-red, surrounded by a dark cone. As the flowers mature, they fade to an attractive smoky-rose. Plants are strong and bushy in habit with contrasting, near-black stems. Ideal for sunny borders and mixed containers. Attracts plenty of butterflies.

We have native plants too... Black eyed Susans, Spotted Geranium, Cinnamon ferns, Prairie Dropseed grasses, Milkweed and more.

Rudbeckia ‘Little Goldstar’ (Rudbeckia fulgida) It's a knock-out bloomer with golden daisy-like flowers that adds months of color to the garden. Flowers float above dark green foliage on sturdy stems... forming dense clumps. This low-growing variety of the beloved native wildflower blooms prolifically... just the right size for containers and front of borders.

Perennial Hibiscus...  not blooming yet but plants are large and ready for planting.

Rose Mallow 'Airbrush Effect': (Hibiscus 'Airbrush Effect'): Plant now in sun or part sun perennial beds or along fences. Vibrant pink flowers (8-8.5" in diameter!) with salmon overtones, a white halo and small dark-red eyes.  Matures up to 4 ft. tall and wide. Blooms from mid-summer to fall. Attracts hummingbirds and bees but deer resistant. Spectacular!

Rose Mallow Summerific 'Holy Grail': (Hibiscus Summerific 'Holy Grail'): (The leafy plants aren't blooming yet, but this one will have regal red flowers). Matures from 48 to 54 inches tall. Place in back of perennial beds or along fences. For a pop of color, use instead of hydrangea paniculatas. Blooms throughout the summer months. Attracts hummingbirds and bees. Deer resistant. Part sun to sun.

Lots of daisies...

Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum superbum 'Christine Hagemann'): White pompom flowers with yellow centers, are held on sturdy stems above a dense clump of foliage. 30-in. tall. Blooming at our store now, but typically blooms July-August. Sun

Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum superbum 'Fiona Coghill'): Features fragrant, shaggy, double-white flowers with small yellow-green centers. 24-36" tall. Flowers bloom in June-July. Sun

Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum superbum 'Snowcap'): An outstanding dwarf variety with large, single, long lasting, pure white flowers that cover the compact, green foliage. An excellent choice for container gardening or in borders. Resistant to heat, drought and humidity. 10-14" tall. Blooms late spring - summer. Sun.
