Attract butterflies, hummingbirds and bees to your garden from the special plant list above.
Pollinators need the help of gardeners in the neighborhood and throughout the world. Butterflies, hummingbirds and bees add color and movement to your landscape and keep unwanted pests away and provide pollination for our fruits and vegetables. Monarch butterflies and bees are under siege from many sources: habitat loss, climate change and pesticides.
There are certain plants that will attract butterflies, hummingbirds and bees to your garden. Hopefully, you already have some of these plants blooming in your garden, but it can't hurt to tuck in a few more or... start a new pollinator garden for yourself or in your community.
For best results, plant most perennials in a sunny and warm location. Adult butterflies seem to be more attracted to flowers that grouped together in a single variety or color. (Scientists have found that butterflies are near-sighted and are more easily attracted to a large block of color.) Plant a variety of flowers that will bloom from late spring through autumn—especially, for those late, migrating butterflies and hummingbirds.
